• Copy editing is essential to a novel's preparation for publishing.

• This process combs through your manuscript with four goals in mind: clarity, consistency, coherency, and correctness.

• In this service, I will utilize two editing passes through your entire manuscript and provide tracked changes in Word or suggestions in Google Docs. I am meticulous with this service, and will correct grammar and punctuation in addition to providing options to reduce repetition or improve clarity.

• I'll point out inconsistencies (example: her blonde hair becomes strawberry blonde).

• I will also produce a style guide throughout our communication on your work that will include your preferences for spelling, capitalization, etc, for specific words in your book. This will smooth the proofreading and/or formatting for anyone else who collaborates with you after we have finished copy edits.​

• Price: $0.0035 per word.​

• This means a 100k manuscript would be $350.

Proofreading

• Proofreading is the last step before formatting and publishing, and it ensures your book or story is as perfect as possible.

• I will do two passes of your manuscript in Google docs or Word, as this ensures I catch the most typos, extra spaces, or small mistakes throughout your work.​

• I will use track changes so you can see everything. You'll be in control by accepting or declining my suggestions. Please ask questions if you wonder why I'm changing something. I'm happy to share current grammar and punctuation practices, but upholding your voice as an author is incredibly important.​

• Price: $0.002 per word​

• This means a 100k manuscript will cost $200.

Line & Copy Editing

• Line and copy editing is the standard for preparing a mauscript for publishing.

• This service will include all the copy editing listed in the copy editing service, in addition to line edits, which focus on smoothing sentences and arranging the narrative to make the reading experience even more enjoyable for the consumer.

• There will be two passes through the entire manuscript:

  • The first will heavily emphasize line edits with rephrasing suggestions, avoiding repetition, exploring synonyms, and more.​

  • The second will ensure the narrative is smooth while also double checking grammar and punctuation mistakes that slipped through the first pass.

• Track changes in Google docs or Word are provided, so you can see every suggested change.

• I will craft and provide a style guide, just like with copy edits.

• All grammar, punctuation, spelling, and language consistency will be double checked.

• Every sentence will be evaulated for flow, meaning, and logic.

• I will point out repetitive language and suggest alternative words or phrases.

• I'll adjust sentence structure or wording to improve clarity, reduce passive verbs, simplify difficult to read sentences, and increase variety WHILE maintaining YOUR unique voice.

• I'll highlight inconsistencies so you can decide which option to keep.

• I communicate often throughout the editing process to ensure your voice and preferences.

• Price: $0.006 per word

• This means a 100k manuscript would be $600.

Proofreading Third Pass Add-on

• Formatting can introduce new errors into a manuscript.

• I quickly learned that having one more proofreading pass of the fully formatted ebook will ensure near perfection.​

• Please note that this is an additional pass and should not be the main form of proofreading for your novel.​
