Small Deleted Scene from Nirel

Author's Note: This occured right after Jase's 25 lashes scene. Nirel was going to follow Jase and Prisha, but Corvin stopped her. In the old draft, Nirel thought he was sleeping around because she overheard what she thought was Corvin and a different woman having sex in his room. I decided to cut this scene for a few reasons: I rewrote the chapter from Jase's pov, I didn't want readers to think Corvin was a player, I added the apparition chapter which meant she'd truly know which room was his, and the dialogue from him sounded too immature.

Corvin grabbed my arm before I could go after them. I jerked away and stepped back. His eyebrows scrunched together.

“You’re angry.”

“He took a beating for Lei’s sister, and you ridiculed him for it. You told me there were ‘worse men’ than you. That…” I paused and gathered the courage to say, “That was a ‘worse man’ moment, Corvin.”

I didn’t expect the hurt in his eyes. He looked down and studied his hands.

“I dislike that pathetic lieutenant because he fancies himself in love with you. I hate him because you think you love him. You should love me.” He caressed my chin. “I’m your destiny, remember?”

His deep blue eyes looked down at me and a pang hit my chest, but it wasn’t enough for me to actually pity him.

“If I’m your destiny, you wouldn’t have to force me to be with you. And you wouldn’t be sleeping with any girl that shows interest at a party either.”

His head tilted. “What are…”

I interrupted. “I passed your room after the party. I heard you… with someone.” I grimaced.

“You came to my room?”

I nodded.

He crossed his arms. “I don’t know whose room you were eavesdropping in, but it wasn’t mine. I was speaking with Senator Tiernan at his home late into the night after the party.”
